Sustainable warmth: How our eco-responsible initiative brings over 50 tons of old coats back to life to preserve the warmth of your electronics

In today's digital world, our phones have become indispensable everyday companions. So it's crucial to protect them and keep them warm, especially on cold winter days! At Hot Poc, we've taken the initiative to go one step further by recovering coats destined for landfill to create the famous Sleeper Eco. It's a sleeping bag for telephones that keeps them safe from the cold while giving a second life to used coats, all made right here in Quebec. Let's take a look at this ecological approach that has taken root and grown over the past three years.

Our phones have become our best friends, always there to accompany us. So we have to protect them and keep them warm, don't we? At Hot Poc, we've given the matter a lot of thought and come up with a brilliant idea: reuse old coats destined for the landfill to make our famous Sleeper-Éco. It's a little sleeping bag for telephones that keeps them nice and warm while giving a second life to these worn-out coats, right here in Quebec. So, let's take a look together at this ecological adventure that has gained a lot of momentum over the past three years.

Design:

The focal point of this approach is the careful selection of recycled coats. Each coat is carefully sorted, giving a second life to garments destined for recycling. This approach not only minimizes textile waste, but also creates unique products by preserving the individual characteristics and stories of recycled fabrics. As a result, each of our Sleepers is one-of-a-kind!

Beyond their aesthetic appeal, Sleepers provide optimum protection for your precious device. The inner lining, made from insulating materials, keeps your phone at an optimum temperature in cold weather, preventing battery problems linked to low temperatures. The Sleeper also features an inner pocket containing a Hot Poc to optimize warmth.

Handcrafted in Quebec:

The artisanal aspect of manufacturing comes into its own, as each Sleeper is carefully designed by hand. Sleepers are entirely made in Quebec. This local production reduces the carbon footprint, thus limiting transport-related emissions. The “handmade” approach also guarantees superior quality, with every detail taken into account to create an accessory that is both functional and durable.

Waste reduction and ecological commitment:
Did you know that each person in Quebec throws away an average of 52 lbs of clothing per year? All together, we generate over 3.4 million tons of CO2 per year with our textile waste! By using exclusively recycled coats, this design method demonstrates a concrete commitment to reducing textile waste. Reusing these coats eliminates the need to produce new materials, thus contributing to the preservation of natural resources.

Innovative collaboration:

As a brand committed to sustainability for many years, we recently took it a step further by collaborating with ski patrollers to create products from their recycled coats. This unique collaboration added an extra dimension to our approach, not only incorporating recycled coats, but also honoring the rich heritage and adventurous spirit of ski patrollers. This initiative is a testament to our ongoing commitment to pushing the boundaries of sustainability, while celebrating the creative partnerships that give rise to unique and ethical products.

Sleepers handmade from recycled coats are more than just an accessory. They embody an ethical and sustainable approach to cell phone protection. By putting forward a design process attentive to the sorting of materials, artisanal manufacturing and the reduction of waste, these accessories become an option that is not only practical, but also conveys strong ethical and environmental values. Opting for these products means adopting a conscious approach and actively contributing to building a more sustainable future.
